After a bunch of teasers and basically confirmation from Microsoft themselves, Arrowhead has officially announced the Helldivers 2 Halo Warbond, and it is coming out on the exact same day HD2 launches on Xbox consoles. Following the ODST bundle announcement, Arrowhead personnel have defended the Helldivers 2 Halo Warbond price increase while also teasing the “awesome” next Premium Warbond may release soon.
Arrowhead defends Helldivers 2 Halo Warbond price increase increase
It’s official that the Helldivers 2 Halo Warbond costs 1,500 Super Credits. In addition, it will also not be compatible with Premium Warbond Tokens, one of which is freely granted to Xbox players who pre-order the Super Citizen Edition.
The price increase from 1,000 SC for Premium Warbonds is noticeable, but it’s clarified that this is not the norm and is for Legendary Warbonds only. Legendary Warbonds are bundles that crossover with IPs rather than just original content.
In response to users on Discord accepting the price increase because of Sony having to “pay for licensing,” Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, added that it’s also a lot “more work as we [Arrowhead] have to collaborate and get approvals from the great team over at Halo studios”. The CEO added it’s “Great to work with but more iteration than with our own stuff. Just part of normal process for licensed stuff”.
While there are understandable justifications for the price increase, it’s also been clarified that this Warbond is permanent, however, it will not be accompanied by any superstore items, and it will also not be customisable. This is likely due to licensing reasons.
HD2 dev teases next “awesome” Premium Warbond
While Legendary Warbonds will sell at 1,500 SC, Premium Warbonds will stay at 1,000 SC. All of us have assumed that Halo is the next Warbond part of Arrowhead’s typical release schedule, but community manager, Baskinator, has shared that is not the case.
On Discord, Baskinator shared the Halo Warbond is “special and not part of the regular premium warbond release cadence”. The community manager added that they “can’t confirm any dates” for when the next Premium Warbond will come out, but “Premium Warbonds are on their regular release schedule still”.
Lastly, the community manager teased, “keep your eyes on the skies,” and shared, “I’ve seen the next Premium Warbond, and it’s awesome”.
The last Premium Warbond was Control Group, and it came out on July 17th. Before that was Force of Law on June 12th, and before that was Masters of Ceremony on May 15th, which followed Borderline Justice on March 20th. While Borderline Justice was a bit of an anomaly, Premium Warbonds typically come out every 5-7 weeks.
Seeing as Control Group came out on July 17th, the Halo Warbond is arriving six weeks after on August 26th. However, it is not part of Arrowhead’s regular release schedule. We don’t know when the next Premium Warbond will arrive, but it could possibly be the first week of September or shortly after.
