Helldivers 2 is entering a new period. The 60 day roadmap has come to a pass with Arrowhead delivering two ginormous updates that have massively improved the HD2 experience, and we are now on the other side of the annual holiday celebration, Liberty Day. While all of these huge occasions have come and gone, there’s still a lot planned for the future, and the Helldivers 2 CCO has publicly stated they would love a crossover “that’d be the sickest thing imaginable”.
Liberty Day was great with the arrival of a previously leaked armor and weapon, but it did not bring forth the debut of the Illuminate as some speculated. We still have to wait for the Illuminate to make their presence known, and we are still waiting on the leaked clan system as well as other components revealed for the future through datamines.
Away from leaks though, players have wanted crossovers. Collaborations are difficult for HD2, and Arrowhead has already stated they do not want to become like Fortnite collaborating with IPs that do not make sense. However, this doesn’t mean crossovers are impossible, and Pilestedt has shared an IP he would love to collaborate with for Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 CCO “would love” crossover with Trench Crusade
Arrowhead CCO and Helldivers 2 creative director, Pilestedt, has shared on X that he “would love to do” a crossover between Helldivers 2 and Trench Crusade.
On his official X account, Pilestedt posted “Btw all wargaming friends. Check out @TrenchCrusade. Such a cool IP!”. The official Trench Crusade social media responded “holy s**t,” to which Pilestedt stated “would love to do a HD2 + TC crossover”.
Trench Crusade then remarked “thatd be the sickest thing imaginable,” and Pilestedt responded “I sent DM. Lets talk. Also I have more things to discuss!”.
For those unaware, Trench Crusade is a “tabletop wargame set in a blasphemously alternate WW1 era… [where] Players take command of the forces of heaven and hell, leading skirmish size warbands in daring assaults and devious counter operations on the fringes of the meat grinder that is the frontline”.
It was put on Kickstarer on October 29th with a pledge goal of £51,323, and it has made a whopping £1,221,427 as of writing on November 4th.
While a crossover between Helldivers 2 and Trench Crusade would be glorious, there’s no guarantees it will happen. Pilestedt would love it to materialize, but he told a fan on X that “there are so many hurdles” and “Just making the first crossover work wasnt easy. And its within the family”.
