Halo is the second crossover for Helldivers 2. There are leaked weapons that possibly point to a future collaboration with Warhammer 40K, but right now the only crossovers for HD2 are Killzone and Microsoft’s flagship IP. While the upcoming crossover with Microsoft has been received very well, there was a lot of criticism that battered Arrowhead’s retrieval of Guerrilla Games’ dormant franchise. Fortunately, the Helldivers 2 CCO has promised to “reprise” Killzone content, and hopefully the return will be formatted similarly to the Halo crossover.

Helldivers 2 CCO promises to “reprise” Killzone content

Helldivers 2 collaborated with Killzone back at the tail-end of 2024. Unfortunately, the crossover was a bit of a disaster due to pricing and items being limited-time. There was also the issue of formatting as the crossover wasn’t bundled as a Warbond.

Arrowhead have regularly been bombarded with requests to bring the Killzone content back, and CCO, Pilestedt, has revealed the studio intends to “reprise” the collaboration. A fan posted, “I hope y’all are able to do the Killzone fans justice with a proper re-run/rework Warbond like” Halo, and Pilestedt responded, “We are going to reprise it. So everyone will have a chance to get the content”.

While Arrowhead are aiming to bring the Killzone content back, Pilestedt admitted there are “Some technical hurdles to jump through on how to reimburse players that have some of the content”. The CCO added, “Or however we handle those that have bought the items before. May not be reimbursed”.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Killzone crossover is brought back. The ideal scenario on paper would be to rerelease as a Warbond for players who didn’t get the content, but then there is the headache of reimbursement for players who did get the content at launch.

Fortunately, while the Killzone crossover received a lot of flak, it’s not the same for Halo due to Arrowhead not repeating grave mistakes. While the Killzone items were limited-time, Arrowhead has assured fans that the Halo Warbond is permanent.

In addition, while the Killzone partnership was loathed for costing 2,000 Super Credits, Arrowhead is selling the Halo Warbond for 1,500 SC. The studio has explained that Legendary Warbonds such as Halo, presumably meaning crossovers, will sell at 1,500 SC, meanwhile, Premium Warbonds that include only original content will continue to sell for 1,000 SC.

While the Halo Warbond is avoiding the mistakes made with Killzone, there are still admissions you should know before buying the Halo package. For instance, it’s been elaborated that you will not be able to customize any of the Halo weapons or armor, presumably due to licensing reasons.
