With all the hype around Grand Theft Auto 6’s debut trailer since it dropped, Rockstar are naturally bullish about the game as it sends fans ravenous for the next entry in the wildly successful series.

According to a press release that Rockstar deployed accompanying the release of the latest trailer, company founder Sam Houser has gone on record to say that GTA 6 will “continue our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences – we’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”

Given the monumental success of Grand Theft Auto 5 – the game is still one of the highest rated games of all time of course, and is still making absolute bank for Rockstar parent Take 2 to this day, that’s no mean feat, but Rockstar have never been one for shying away. It’ll be a very interesting new entry though, as it’ll mark the first Grand Theft Auto game without many of the series’ long-time stewards of the story, including Sam’s brother Dan Houser, one of the key writers for most of the series. Other key GTA writers – including Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth, last week revealed they had joined Dan Houser’s new company Absurd Ventures.

However, if GTA 6’s first trailer is anything to go by, there’s more than enough people with faith in the current Rockstar to pull off something equally spectacular to stand up to previous GTA outings, with the trailer barely 16 hours old and already shooting past the 72 million views mark at the time of writing. Grand Theft Auto’s open world is sure to provide plenty to do and a massive open playground in which to do it in, it’ll just be a matter of patience for fans to wait until 2025 to see what they can do. Previously, Take Two’s CEO claimed that GTA 6 “needs to be something you’ve never seen before”.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release at some point in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. We’ve already been pouring over the trailer and you can check out what we’ve learned so far here. Meanwhile, GTA fans already think main character Lucia looks like a certain Hollywood actress.
