Excitement is building over the potential Xbox release of an N64 classic, as achievements for Goldeneye 007 have popped up over New Year’s weekend.
As spotted by our friends at Xbox Achievements, the list includes achievements for completing the game’s many levels. There’s additional awards for higher difficulty levels and quick clear times too. There’s also a few for the first person shooter’s iconic multiplayer portion, including a secret one for playing as Oddjob.
The leak also appears to include achievement images, giving further credence to the veracity of this list. It’s speculated that the achievements could be tied to an almost-completed XBLA port of the game that surfaced last year. The project was all but ready to launch on the Xbox 360 in 2008. Ultimately, however, the project was cancelled before seeing the light of day. This was after licensing talks between Nintendo, Microsoft, Activision (who held the rights to the games at the time) and James Bond rights holders EON broke down. Boo.
Currently there’s been no official announcement from Microsoft or Rare at the time of writing. So whether it’s the XBLA version or a straight port of the original N64 Goldeneye 007 is still anyone’s guess. For the time being, at least, we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll be expecting you, Mr Bond.
