It’s fair to say that MW2 has missed the mark when it comes to some of the purchases, with plenty of players decrying additions like UAVs in certain bundles. Now, it looks like the Ghillie Suit is another to add to the list.

The Ghillie Suit was originally part of a promotion when MW2 launched, but can now be purchased as part of an operator bundle. However as members of the game’s subreddit have spotted, it seems the suit isn’t providing as much camouflage as they’d expect. A thread entitled ‘$20 Ghillie Suits don’t work” includes a screenshot that one player has taken that shows the suit almost literally glowing and exposing a prone-player attempting to hide in the green area of one of the game’s maps.

It’s certainly an unfortunate hiccup – and though some users think this is intentional to not make the suit overpowered, other users think it’s not so cut and dry. “It’s his graphics settings,” says JBizz86. “Same Ghillie on my setup you overlook it a lot. Have seen it on streams in my game. It’s harder to see. Then again, the blur of S1 in a bush stands out a lot.” – although even if that’s true, this feels like a bug if the suits effects are this badly negated by changing graphics settings.

Other users make clear that while they don’t want a pay to win skin – they do think the issues with the skin make the offering rather redundant. “Frankly, it’s kinda too much disrespect for ghillie,” says IIWhiteHawkII “While game uses tricky rendering techniques and rendering shader to make human models flat and reflect near colours which results in blending in… (…) while actual ghillie suit glows brighter than acid-coloured CDL skin.”
