Activision has once again decided to add another pay-to-win DMZ bundle to the game as fans continue to empty their wallets in purchasing these perk-providing sets. This time around, the newly introduced bundle comes with a bonus effect that provides users with a free UAV immediately at the start of the game.
Despite numerous complaints about these money-grabbing microtransactions, it looks like these protests only represent a small portion of the player base as the devs have seemingly been given the green light to keep adding these types of items into the in-game store. With no end to these bundles in sight, fans have now started turning to social media sites instead in the hopes of bringing more attention to this issue.
A handful of Reddit and Twitter users are predictably disappointed by this latest trend with one particularly frustrated fan noting that “the game is still total ass and full of issues.” Another commenter boldly called this pay-to-win addition “one of the worst dev decisions” they’ve ever seen. However, another responder doesn’t seem to think that this is the developer’s choice as they would go on to say that “this probably came from a higher up in Activision.”
Another player, on the other hand, is saying that this is “more like pay to get a small updated chance to win.” “If you’re good, you win regardless of any bundles,” they continued, which, although true, unfortunately seems to be missing the point of most of the community complaints. As long as people continue purchasing these items, those in charge at Activision will gladly continue introducing these greedy schemes into the game.
Based on many of the player reactions seen on social media sites, it’s safe to say that this decision to add another pay-to-win DMZ bundle is a largely unpopular one. But with the impending arrival of the new 2023 CoD installment, this may not be the last one introduced into MW2 as Activision will undoubtedly be looking for ways to milk this series installment as much as it can.
