With four days until the end of the season, Fortnite released a couple of weapon buffs. What’s even more surprising is that two of these weapons are only available during the Fortnitemares event, which is set to end on Saturday. Thorn Ripper and the Wood Stake Shotgun have both been improved with the latest update, as well as the Hand Cannon.
While the melee weapon and the shotgun received a damage boost, the Hand Cannon is now more accurate. This buff will help players hit their shots more easily, especially while moving, as the spread has been decreased.
Fortnite Released Damage and Accuracy Buffs for Several Weapons
The Thorn Ripper is now more dangerous in close-quarters combat, as Epic Games buffed its damage. Before the buff, the weapon did 180 damage for the first three hits (50-50-80), which has been increased to 195 (60-60-75). In addition, the secondary attack with this weapon now deals 75 damage, up from 60 before the update.
The Wood Stake Shotgun had its mid-range damage buffed by approximately 16.5 for Rare to Mythic rarities, while its long-range damage was buffed by 9.2. Interestingly, Epic also nerfed its damage from the maximum range by 5 while also decreasing the overall maximum range.
Finally, the Hand Cannon received a significant accuracy buff. The spread multiplier while jumping or falling has been reduced from 1.15x to 1.05x, while the sprinting spread has gone down from 1.25x to 1.10x. The equip animation speed is now 5% faster as well, making this Fortnite weapon much more dangerous.
With the new Fortnite season dropping on Saturday, it’s unusual for Epic to release these changes. The Thorn Ripper and the Wood Stake Shotgun will likely be removed from the game, although there is a slight chance that the Hand Cannon will remain in the loot pool.
