Fortnite players are not quite fond of snipers, which is why it’s no surprise that they were nerfed with the latest update. However, what is surprising is the fact that this is not the first sniper nerf this season. Epic Games has tried to find the right balance with these long-range weapons but to no avail. Due to this, snipers received another big nerf ahead of the v29.20 update.

While we’re waiting for the second major update of Chapter 5 Season 2, Epic decided to change a few things. The Frenzy Auto Shotgun was nerfed, along with snipers. On the other hand, the game developer buffed a couple of weapons. This article will list all the major changes that arrived with the latest Fortnite update. The latest Fortnite update buffed Waterbending, but nerfed snipers

The Reaper Sniper Rifle has been one of the most powerful weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5. The three-shot rifle is strong on its own, yet players can even improve it further by installing various weapon mods. Due to this, it’s no surprise that many players believe it’s the strongest weapon in the current season. As a result, Epic Games nerfed it with the latest Fortnite update.

The sniper now has a slower reload speed, which will force players to adjust their shots once again. On top of this, Epic also nerfed the spawn rate of the Reaper Sniper Rifle from chests. While nerfing the spawn rate likely won’t help with the frequency of snipers in the end-game, lowering the bullet velocity will certainly affect the popularity of the weapon.

Besides the Reaper Sniper Rifle, the latest Fortnite update has also brought the following changes:

  • Chains of Hades melee combos and pull attacks now deal more damage
  • Increased the drop rate of the Hand Cannon and added it to Rare chests
  • Waterbending projectile speed has been increased, along with an increased fire rate and damage
  • Frenzy Auto Shotgun fire rate and headshot multiplier have been reduced

With another major update coming this week, Epic may release even more balance changes in Fortnite. On top of it, the upcoming content drop may also add new weapons, cosmetics, and map changes.
