Epic Games has released numerous Fortnite balance changes this season, including both nerfs and buffs. Despite the season being out for only a month, there have been several attempts to balance the game and make it fair for everyone. Due to this, it’s no surprise that the game developer released another update recently.

Just a few days ahead of the v29.20 update, another fan-favorite Fortnite weapon was hit by a nerf, and in this article, we will explain everything you need to know. The latest Fortnite nerf may have completely ruined this shotgun

The Frenzy Auto Shotgun is a close-range weapon first added in Chapter 5 Season 1. The weapon is somewhat similar to the Tactical Shotgun, another fan-favorite weapon. However, the latest nerf drastically affected the weapon, which is why many Fortnite players may stop using it. More specifically, Epic Games revealed that both the fire rate and the headshot multiplier of the auto shotgun were reduced.

Here are the detailed changes:

  • Fire rate reduced by 12%, from 2.5 to 2.2 bullets per second
  • Headshot multiplier reduced by 5.7%, from 1.75 to 1.65

Considering that the Legendary Frenzy Auto Shotgun deals 75 damage per hit, its DPS is now 165, and the maximum damage per shot is just under 124. Before the nerf, this Fortnite weapon dealt 188 damage per second, and its maximum damage was 131. All the other variants of the shotgun have been affected by the balance changes, including the Common (Gray) variant that deals 61 damage per shot.

With the v29.20 update around the corner, we expect that Epic Games will release even more changes to Fortnite. Considering it’s a major update, it may also bring new weapons, cosmetics, and more. On top of it, the update will bring the Avatar collaboration, which will likely come with new Mythic items that will make players forget about the Frenzy Auto Shotgun.
