Epic Games is aiming to constantly improve Fortnite, from its server infrastructure to gameplay. Due to this, it’s no surprise that the game developer is working on enhancing online services. Unfortunately, this also comes at a cost, as game servers will be unstable on Thursday, October 17. As a result, you will run into errors more frequently.

The Fortnite developer recently revealed announced scheduled maintenance that will last for a few hours. This will happen on a global scale, so you will have to be patient and wait for a few minutes if you are unable to log in or find a match.

Fortnite servers will be degraded for a few hours

If you’ve played Fortnite for more than two weeks, you’re probably familiar with server downtime. Epic takes game servers down during every major update, and the downtime usually lasts for two to three hours. Besides schedule downtime, there have also been some other server issues, but most of them don’t happen globally.

According to Epic Games, the servers will be unstable on Thursday, October 17. This will happen due to the maintenance of Epic Online Services, which means that a few other games will be affected besides Fortnite, such as Fall Guys and Rocket League. The maintenance will begin at 5 AM UTC (1 AM ET) and will last for three hours.

Epic Online Services is scheduled for maintenance on 17th-Oct-2024 at 5:00AM UTC. During the maintenance window, there will be degraded availability for up to 3 hours for the following services:
– Sessions
– Lobbies

Epic Games

Once Epic Games finishes the maintenance, everything should go back to normal. However, if you intend to play at this time, please note that you will likely deal with lag, disconnections, and matchmaking errors.
