A huge change is coming to Fortnite this Friday that could completely change how you play the game! The developers are adding the very first Battle Royale mode with proximity chat, allowing you to talk to and hear other players on the map. This is a game-changer and is sure to bring a lot of chaos.
This is a massive addition to the game, as Fortnite has never had a Battle Royale mode with proximity chat before, only in Creative. The new game mode is called Party Crashers, and here’s everything we know about it so far.
Fortnite is finally getting proximity chat
The new mode will be a Zero Build playlist, which has been very popular over the past few weeks. It will support up to 80 players, and naturally, there can be only one winner per match, which will lead to a lot of intense moments.
To make things even more interesting, leakers have revealed that players will be able to enter new squads during the match. This means they will be able to talk to other players to either team up or go against them, leading to some chaotic moments.

In order to join the new mode, players must set their voice chat to “Everyone” to start matchmaking. This means that if you want to play, you have to be ready to talk to other players. This is a massive change, but fortunately, it is limited only to the new game mode.
Fortnite creators will get an early access version of the mode a day before it officially drops. This will allow them to test out the mode and have their followers join to create some epic moments!
The proximity chat game mode will bring new Fortnite quests. These will be available on Friday, and each will grant 15,000 Season XP.
