Fortnite has dropped its latest update, and along with it comes the game’s latest cross-media crossover, featuring the characters from hit animated sitcom Futurama to mark the latter’s latest return.

The update brings three members of the Planet Express crew as outfits for players to buy from the in-game store: namely slacker Phillip J Fry, captain Leela Turanga and everyone’s favourite surly robot Bender Bending Rodriguez. All three have their own custom pickaxes, naturally, Fry’s being a nutcracker, Leela’s being her violin and Bender’s being a girder. Back bling wise, there’s a Hypnotoad for Fry, Nibbler for Leela and Bender’s son Ben from Season 7. They’ve also got alternate variants to unlock, with the golden Bender, black-haired Fry and red-haired Leela from Universe 1 as seen in the episode ‘The Farnsworth Paradox’ from Season 4.

Away from the skins, players can also get their hands on a funky Planet Express Ship Glider and Zoidberg Scuttle emote so everyone can pay attention to you. On the island itself, you’ll be able to find Bender’s Shiny Metal Raygun from the robot himself, who can be found wandering around the island. If sci-fi isn’t your thing, maybe you’ll want to try out the Mammoth Pistol.

Of course, the Futurama collaboration isn’t the only new addition in this week’s patch, as the game’s also unvaulting the Lever Action Shotgun as well as adding a couple of new augments such as Pistol Recycle, which gives pistols a chance to not cost ammo, Desperate Reload, which lets pistols reload faster and Scoped Salvo that sees scoped weapons have increased damage, with the tradeoff of a reduced firerate.

This latest collaboration should hopefully be welcomed by the community, who’ve not been best pleased with Fortnite’s latest season so far, with many calling the game’s recent Summer Escape Event out for a lack of content. In the meantime, some fans have even been putting together their own concepts for a Revival season, while others hope this Futurama collaboration could also lead to a Simpsons one in the future.
