Revealing Mero’s age after winning the Fortnite tournament

Matthew “Mero” Faitel is a professional Fortnite player from Canada. Born on September 18, 2004, Mero is only 19. The talented controller player celebrated his birthday less than a month ago and he couldn’t have asked for a better present.

Thanks to the epic showdown in the FNCS Global Championship 2023, Mero and his partner Cooper won $1 million. The 19-year-old Fortnite player celebrated the victory by posting a picture of Michael Jordan on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Interestingly, the duo didn’t start the tournament off strong. On the first day of the championship, Mero and Cooper finished 28th in the FNCS Upper Bracket. They improved their position to 17th in the Lower Bracket on Saturday, before finally finishing first on Sunday.

Thanks to the FNCS victory, Mero has now earned approximately $570,000 from Fortnite tournaments in 2023, increasing his total to $1.056 million. His previous record for single-tournament earnings was $95,000 in the FNCS: 2021 Grand Royale (NAE).

Mero is a year younger than Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, the winner of the Fortnite World Cup 2019. However, Bugha was only 16 at the time of his impressive victory.
