V-Bucks are a premium currency in Fortnite, and many players are after them. Unfortunately, the only consistent way to get them is by buying packages from the in-game store. Earning free V-Bucks is also possible, and Epic Games just sent out some of them to Fortnite players. However, no one knows why this happened.

To check if you received free V-Bucks, please launch Fortnite and check your balance.

Why did Fortnite players receive free V-Bucks?

Epic Games has refunded a lot of V-Bucks over the past few years. This mostly happens when the game developer makes a mistake, such as putting an incorrect price on an item. However, the latest V-Bucks refund is quite odd, as no one really knows what it’s about. Shortly after the servers went back up on Wednesday morning, some players reported getting 200 V-Bucks.

You earned 200 V-Bucks from all your hard work.

Epic Games

Epic granted these V-Bucks to players for their “hard work,” but it’s unclear what this exactly means. Eligible players also received a Jam Track, so there is a chance that these free V-Bucks were given to Fortnite Festival players.

To check if you received these V-Bucks, you simply need to launch the game. If you receive them, you will get a pop-up that looks similar to the screenshot above. Even if you don’t see a pop-up, you should check your V-Bucks balance and see if you got this small refund. Epic Games hasn’t addressed this recent refund yet, but we will update the article when we find out more information.

In the meantime, make sure to update Fortnite to enjoy all the new content that arrived with the v31.10 update. You can now use new items, such as Gwenpool’s Dual Micro SMGs, and unlock super styles for Battle Pass skins.
