The Final Fantasy VII Remake Twitter account has revealed that PS Plus subscribers who own the game will get a free upgrade to the PS5 version this week.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was originally offered to PS Plus subscribers all the way back in March. Just a month prior, it was revealed that the PS4 game would be getting an enhanced edition for the PlayStation 5. However, Square Enix declared that those who picked up the PS Plus version would not be eligible for the upgrade.

Now, nine months later, the studio will now offer the Intergrade upgrade to owners of the PS Plus version. In addition, the game’s recent ‘FF7R Episode INTERmission‘ DLC that introduces Yuffi Kisaragi will be 25% off for a limited time.

It’s a little frustrating for those who couldn’t wait and chose to buy the whole game again, but better late than never. The Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade upgrade includes enhanced textures, lighting and improved loading times. It also has two modes, with one letting you play the 2020 RPG at 60FPS in Performance Mode. Alternatively, you can play in 4K resolution via Quality mode.

Of course, it helps that the game itself is pretty good too. You can read Josh’s original review of Final Fantasy VII Remake for yourself over here. The PS5 upgrade will be available on Wednesday to PS Plus subscribers who’ve already claimed the game back in March. Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be any way to claim it if you missed it at the time.
