Square Enix has announced the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster release date and it’s closer than anyone thought it would be. This has been a highly anticipated launch ever since it was announced because it will finally bring remastered versions of some of the series’ most iconic entries to modern day consoles.

With Final Fantasy XVI already having gone gold and Final Fantasy 14 Online offering up a free, month-long trial of the Stormblood expansion, the masterminds over at Square Enix have been on a roll recently and the launch of the Pixel Remaster is set to keep their hot streak going even longer.

In order to help you prepare for its release, we’ll be listing down when the exact launch date is going to be below. We’ll also be providing any other relevant information disclosed by the developers so you can remain up to date on the game.

When is the release date for Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster?

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 19, 2023. This latest collection of classic FF entries features the first six games that were released in the series, from Final Fantasy all the way to Final Fantasy VI.

Since these are remastered versions of the original titles, several updates have been made to each one. The first and most obvious changes are the graphical improvements as the revamped installments now feature much clearer icons, sharper images, and a brighter environment. Although the nostalgic 2D design still rightfully retains its place, the enhancements that are now fully apparent makes the collection even more fitting for modern day consoles.

Each game now also features a new pixel font that makes reading through in-game text much easier. If you’re a fan of the classic soundtrack, you’ll also be happy to know that there will be a feature that will allow you to “switch between the original and new BGM whenever you like.”

Finally, according to the launch date trailer by Square Enix, all of the games included have been “re-worked to be easier to play and closer to the original experiences.” They’ve also added “convenient new features,” which will apparently make the gameplay even more fun than before.
