With the World Cup starting on Sunday, November 20, FIFA has released a DLC expansion to FIFA 23 by adding the FIFA 23 World Cup mode. The mode is similar to other World Cup FIFA versions, like the FIFA 18 World Cup mode that introduced us to Moscow and its vibrant colours.

This World Cup is very unique in that it is going to be set during the winter months, when it normally takes place during the summer. With the World Cup taking place during the height of FIFA, the game mode is going to be played even more than ever before.

We thought it would be a good time to take a look at the best teams to use in this year’s FIFA 23 World Cup Tournament Mode.

Argentina is one of the most iconic teams to grace the pitches of the World Cup with Heroes like the late Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.

With the earlier passing recently and the latter looking to cement his legacy with a World Cup trophy, Argentina has plenty of motivation and talent. The options they have going forward are incredibly potent, whilst Martinez in goal, and Romero in defence is a solid foundation to build off.

Portugal has arguably the most balanced team going into the World Cup, with star man Bruno Fernandes, and his Manchester United compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks. 

Portugal will hope to drive themselves into the final stages of the World Cup. They also boast Manchester City duo Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo in the defence, to round out a complete team. Much like Messi and Neymar Jr. too, this is Ronaldo’s last chance to have World Cup glory.

France are regular competitors at the World Cup. They won their second trophy in 2018 and will be looking to secure a third trophy in Qatar.

France will miss Paul Pogba in their midfield, but they have many world-beaters like Kylian Mbappe in the team. This World Cup they also have Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema in the squad after he has been recalled by Didier Deschamps. France are likely the best international side in the game, and one of the favourites for the tournament.
