Bethesda has officially announced a delay to their long-awaited Fallout 4 next-gen update, which brings the Commonwealth-based adventure to current-gen consoles, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The series developer has cited needing “a bit more time” to work on the modern port as the main reason for the pushback. Unfortunately, Bethesda has not provided an exact release date as of writing, so you’ll have to remain patient for now if you’re looking forward to getting your hands on it.

Following the exciting announcement of Marvel’s Blade during The Game Awards 2023, the Fallout 4 next-gen update delay comes as a slight disappointment as players had eagerly been waiting to experience the latest series entry on modern gaming platforms. Surprisingly, however, several comments below Bethesda’s official delay announcement post expressed their support for the postponement, with many telling the Fallout studio to take their time.

One X (formerly Twitter) user simply said: “As a lifelong Bethesda fan, I’ve learned that it’s worth the wait every time,” while another cheerily noted: “Hey, at least it’s still being worked on. That’s what counts.” Though details remain scarce on what the Fallout 4 next-gen update will bring, the speculated upgrades, changes, and fixes that are set to arrive with it have seemingly been enough to hold over some of the more level-headed members of the community.

Some of the tweaks players are requesting include an increased mod cap, AoE (area-of-effect) looting, sorting by stack weight, adding mob highlight on death, and many others. Of course, it remains to be seen whether Bethesda will actually bring these suggestions into the game upon the next-gen port’s release. However, we will continue to provide updates as soon as they’re available, so stay tuned. While you wait, check out our guides on how to install Fallout 4 mods so you can enjoy the game even more.
