The Epic Games store offers freebies every week and there are usually some great giveaways every now and then. We know the next and final Epic Games store free games for October 2023, and one of them is a wildly underappreciated horror sequel to one of Epic’s current giveaways available right now.

Before next week arrives, you can take advantage of the Epic Games store Halloween 2023 sale right now. This offers dozens of discounts for magnificent titles such as The Last of Us Part 1, Dead Island 2, The Outlast Trials, and Dead By Daylight. If you haven’t already, make sure to pick Dead By Daylight right now as DBD Chapter 30 is getting revealed very soon, and the unannounced killer comes from a supposedly big license.

While the Halloween sale is great for some bargains, you do not have to spend a penny to enjoy one of the most underappreciated horror sequels being given away next month.

Epic Games store October 2023 free games

The current Epic Games store October 2023 free games are Eternal Threads and The Evil Within. Both are free until October 26th when they will replaced by Tandem A Tale of Shadows and The Evil Within 2.

If you love survival horror, make sure to pick up The Evil Within now, and then its sequel next week. The Evil Within was one of the most misunderstood survival horror games of all time with naysayers complaining about its relentless difficulty and stiffness. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a great survival horror throwback by Resident Evil 4 director, Shinji Mikami.

On the other hand, The Evil Within 2 is one of the most wildly underappreciated sequels regardless of genre. While The Evil Within performed really well in sales, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see The Evil Within 3 because TEW2 performed terribly at launch and beyond. This is a huge shame because it is great. It suffers from awkward cut-scenes and a subpar performance from the new Sebastian voice actor, but everything else about the sequel is wonderful. It’s got a great story, the gameplay is more accessible for everyone, and the open world is a dynamic playground full of optional secrets and mysteries to uncover through exploration. Play it!

Although The Evil Within 2 is underappreciated, developer Tango Gameworks is at least getting the love they deserve. Hi-Fi Rush is one of the smash hits of 2023, and Microsoft leaks suggest we are getting Ghostwire Tokyo 2. We cannot wait if true, yet the yearning for an Evil Within 3, however unlikely, persists.

In other news, the Steam Halloween sale 2023 start date is confirmed. And the manga-inspired indie gem World of Horror is now out of early access on Steam with a PS5 and Switch release date slightly delayed.
