Konami has announced that free-to-play soccer sim eFootball 2022 will get its major 1.0.0 update on April 14.

The development team apologised to fans for the delay in their announcement, acknowledging the troubled early reception so far. “We were too focused on getting the game out on time that we lost sight of the most important thing – quality. Naturally, we were met with critical reviews from rightfully disappointed fans.”

However, the team say they’ve been hard at work to regain fans trust. The team say they believe “we have finally reached a level of quality that we can be confident of. Hence the decision behind the release of v1.0.0”. To that end, this patch will see the biggest overhaul to eFootball 2022 so far.

Major changes include an overhauls across all areas of the game, including Defending Controls, Passing, Shooting Trajectories and Improved Dribbling. There’s also new moves including shoulder tackles, stunning passes and improved AI decision making for players receiving passes.

A major addition with the update is the game’s new ‘Dream Team’ mode. Similar to FIFA‘s Ultimate Team, you’ll be trying to build a super squad of players and managers from around the world. You’ll be able to develop them to suit your personal playstyle, and then pit them against other Dream Teams with friends and others online.

There’s plenty more to read up on in the announcement, and Konami promise full patch notes on the update’s launch. The 1.0.0 update arrives for eFootball 2022 on April 14, 2022.
