EA has declared it’ll be unveiling its latest officially licensed F1 game with EA Sports F1 22 due for reveal tomorrow, April 21.
Of course, there’s not too much in the way of detail so far, with just a countdown site released. However, we can note the series will be going under something of a name change. Last year’s entry, simply named F1 2021, was the first title since EA bought Codemasters for $1.2 billion USD just a few months prior. Presumably that short timeframe was why the naming convention that time was kept the same as the previous Codemasters games.
However, this year’s entry is firmly entrenching itself in the bosom of the publisher by adding the EA Sports moniker. It’s also truncating the year to shorthand, presumably so it lines up with other EA Sports titles like FIFA 22. Aside from that, the site teases that fans can expect this game to “enter the new era” of Formula 1. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see exactly what that means.
Last year’s entry was centred around the new ‘Braking Point’ story mode. It also introduced a new two player career mode and was also the first entry for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. So there were plenty of new fancy graphical upgrades as well. F1 fans should be well served this year, with F1 Manager 2022 also on the way later this summer.
As for EA Sports F1 22, we’ll find out more from tomorrow at approximately 4pm UK time.
