Techland has released a new video offering insight into the character of Lawan in the upcoming Dying Light 2: Stay Human.

If you missed her original reveal, Lawan will be played by Sin City and The Mandalorian actress Rosario Dawson. Dawson herself features quite heavily in this video, in fact. She talks about the emotions and traits Dawson wanted to convey in her portrayal of the character.

Rosario speaks on how the role appealed to her as the player gets to mould Lawan’s arc. Depending on choices the player makes, she can drastically change her directions and motivations. This has a domino effect of how she’ll then interact with other characters and the world.

Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektała also notes how the development team ended up changing aspects of Lawan as a character based on Dawson’s performance. “As soon as Rosario started to work on that character,” he says. “We realised that we needed to change and expand our artistic vision due to all of the insights she added to Lawan’s attitude and behaviour.”
