The Power Stone games will have passed many gamers by; not because they weren’t good games, but because they were released on the ill-fated Dreamcast. The good news is that Capcom is giving the games a second lease of life on the PSP in the form of the Power Stone Collection.

The Power Stone games are 3D fighters with fully interactive environments allowing the player to pick up weapons and use them against their opponents. In Power Stone 2 Capcom added to the frenetic free-roaming action by including support for up to four players. Thankfully, this will be maintained in the PSP version, with ad hoc wireless support allowing four players to battle it out with only one copy of the game. A feature not seen in many PSP titles.

Both titles will include new weapons and a changeable camera designed to make the game easier to play on the PSP: wide, close and midrange will be selectable. The first Power Stone will include an updated roster which now features the four new characters from Power Stone 2, and a new improved interface will make it easier to see where the power stones are located.

Power Stone 2 will include an adventure mode, and a Bomber Battle mini-game that is new to the PSP version. Both titles will include a range of unlockable content, including art galleries, weapons and secret modes.

Power Stone Collection is scheduled for release in the autumn.
