“Django” sees the return of the iconic Western anti-hero, re-imagined for a modern television audience by Leonardo Fasoli (Gomorrah the SeriesZeroZeroZero), alongside Maddalena Ravagli (Gomorrah the Series).

Loosely based on the cult classic 1966 Spaghetti Western of the same name by Sergio Corbucci, starring Franco Nero as the eponymous, Django. This new series is set to expand on Django’s character and his journey as he arrives in a town promising equality for all but harbouring secrets connected to his Django and his family.

“Django” Release Date?

In their official press release for the series, Sky, did not confirm a specific release date for the series. However they did confirm that it would see release in 2023.

Where can I watch “Django”?

As confirmed in Sky’s official press release for the series, it will be available in all Sky markets globally, and will be available in the UK on Sky Atlantic, and on NOWTV.

How many episodes does the first series have?

The first series will be made up of 10 episodes, each lasting 60 minutes total.

What is the story of “Django”?

As taken from the official press release from Sky for the series:

Set in Texas in the late 1800s, Django is a jaded cowboy in search of the daughter he thought he’d lost. In following her trail, he comes upon New Babylon, a town at the bottom of a crater, where all outcasts are welcome and where everyone is equal and free. Here, Django discovers that his 20-year-old daughter Sarah is alive and set to marry John Ellis, the founder of New Babylon. Sarah – who blames her father for the death of their family, massacred many years earlier while he was at war – wants Django to leave. But he refuses to give up and does everything in his power to get a second chance with her, becoming a valuable ally for Ellis, who must defend the town from Elizabeth Thurman’s attacks. Unbeknownst to them, Django, John, and Sarah are linked by a web of secrets and a dark past bound to resurface.

Is “Django” connected to “Django Unchained”?

There is no official connection between them. But, they are both based, primarily, on the character played by Franco Nero in the movies “Django” (1966), and “Django Strikes Again” (1987).

This is why Nero can be seen cameoing in “Unchained” as well as appearing, presumably in another cameo, in the teaser trailer for the upcoming 2023 series.
