After a 17 year wait, fans prayers have been answered as a “Constantine” sequel has been officially announced by Warner Bros. Pictures, and confirmed in an exclusive article by Deadline.

As the sequel has just been announced, nothing has been revealed yet regarding story, cast, or release date. But, it has been confirmed that original “Constantine” movie director, Francis Lawrence, and star Keanu Reeves, will be returning for the sequel.

Additionally, academy award winning screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend, The Dark Tower) will write the screenplay for the movie as well as produce it through his Weed Road Pictures production company alongside J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella who are producing the movie through their production company, Bad Robot.

The first “Constantine” movie which released in 2005 was directed by then first time feature film director and future I Am Legend and Hunger Games director, Francis Lawrence, and starred Keanu Reeves as supernatural exorcist and demonologist, John Constantine, and Rachel Weisz as policewoman, Angela Dodson, who enlists Constantine’s help to prove that her sister’s death was not a suicide.
