Diablo 4 players have already picked their starting classes ahead of the game’s release and the results aren’t all that surprising. The outcome largely reflected how popular a class was during both pre-launch periods and the trivial balance changes made to each one so far meant that the consensus was always going to remain the same for a majority of the community.

Of course, mere popularity doesn’t guarantee strength within Sanctuary since you will still need to learn useful skills, like how to switch weapons, in order to maximize your character’s full potential. However, the results shared by the devoted fan base seem to indicate that most players are already convinced of each class’s capabilities.

Based on a poll conducted through Reddit, players have seemingly decided to spread themselves out amongst the five classes. The Sorcerer predictably gained the most votes at 25.1% as the spell-casting class often exhibited the most power in the game’s early versions. It’s wide array of AoE spells meant that you could often clear hordes in seconds, which would allow you to quickly carry on with your quests like nothing happened.

Following the Sorcerer closely, however, is the shifty Rogue at 21.9% of the votes, which most veteran players often turned to as the quick moving class has plenty of deadly tools at its disposal. Next up, it was a neck and neck race for third between the two bulky starting classes, but it was the Barbarian that eventually came out on top at 20.4% with the Druid not far behind at an even 20%.

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Necromancer with an underwhelming 12.6% of the votes. Of course, the community’s decision to turn their back on the skeleton-raising class is mainly due to the fact that Blizzard decided to heavily nerf it before the server slam event. This turned its useful corpse minions into a shell of their former selves as they would often be demolished quickly upon facing an elite enemy.

Of course, these results only reflect the Diablo Reddit community’s opinion as opposed to being the entire player base’s general consensus. However, this still seems to be a highly accurate depiction of what fans think of each class going into the inaugural season of Diablo 4.
