As part of the Diablo 4 Season 1 update, Blizzard introduced a handful of new Unique items for each class in an effort to make the endgame grind more interesting for their loyal player base. However, it seems that one of the newly added weapons is standing out amongst its counterparts for all the wrong reasons since the Aspect that it grants makes the underwhelming Sorcerer class even more unplayable.

Now, the new Unique item in question is called The Oculus wand and its inherent Aspect gives your Diablo 4 Sorcerer build the Teleport Enchantment for free. For those unfamiliar, this Enchantment turns your evade into a Teleport, making it much easier for you to get out of sticky situations. And since the brittle spell-caster with its monotonous set of spells often requires players to get up close and personal with demon hordes, this ability comes in handy whenever you join dungeon runs and overworld events.

Unfortunately, much like many of the other Sorcerer Aspects, The Oculus wand perk comes with a catch: “When you evade using Teleport Enchantment, you are taken to a random location,” which means you cannot control where your character goes after dodging an attack. Of course, this isn’t an ideal drawback since evading one mob could just as quickly put you at the mercy of another. But based on a Reddit post by Select_Ice_5435, it seems that there’s another issue that’s currently plaguing The Oculus wand.

As part of the thread they created, Select_Ice_5435 also attached a short clip of their spell-casting character facing up against a horde of ghosts while equipped with The Oculus. Throughout the snippet, they could be seen making use of the Teleport evade ability in several instances – that is, until they eventually got stuck below the map after doing it one too many times. Afterwards, no amount of dodging or potion-ingesting could get them out of their premature burial so the video immediately gets cut a few seconds later.

Most of the comments below the post predictably made fun of the Diablo 4 Sorcerer class and its new Season 1 Unique item as Mordenkainen2021 said: “Sorcerer being dead as [a] class, Oculus taking care of the burial. Brilliant!” Fearless_Cheesecake2 then added: “The important question is is the sorc at the risk of getting hit when she is inside the stones [and] below ground? If yes, that sucks. [But] if [not], hey sorc survivability is finally [here].”

Alas, it’s currently unclear why Sorcerer Aspects have tradeoffs when none of the other classes do. But hopefully, the developers can share more insight into these decisions in the upcoming Campfire Chat or in another developer update down the line.
