The critically acclaimed release of Diablo 4 already has numerous fans praising Blizzard’s latest efforts, but some people are apparently unsatisfied with the game’s “casual” progression system. According to a handful of player reports, it seems that some are disappointed with the gameplay loop because it isn’t as “addicting” as D2, D3, and even Path of Exile.

Even though numerous fans are enjoying the fact that they can continually tinker with their best Barbarian build and best Necromancer build, hardcore ARPG players seemingly aren’t having fun due to Diablo 4’s “aggressive level scaling” and overall unrewarding gameplay. One concerned user named TheStarNomad even created a post on Reddit to share his ongoing frustrations with the community.

In his extensive post shared through the Diablo subreddit, TheStarNomad begins his statements by saying that “something feels very, very off in Diablo IV’s progression.” He would then go on to list a few reasons as to why they think the latest Blizzard installment is “boring” with the first one being its weak gear itemization. Apparently, this is because “Affixes are largely un-inventive and are so tiny in impact” that each low-tier gear you acquire is mostly the same.

Afterwards, they listed the “decorative” skill point investment as another issue that prevented them from enjoying the game. According to TheStarNomad, the values added upon leveling up each skill were so small that you could barely feel its effects while using it on enemies. This problem is made even more evident through Diablo 4’s world scaling that makes every enemy you face just as powerful as you are.

Because of this, you aren’t given the chance to see how powerful you’ve become and the gameplay loop just becomes an endless and unrewarding grind. Naturally, the reasons that TheStarNomad listed all resonated with other hardcore ARPG players as several commenters immediately agreed that D4 isn’t as satisfying as other previous entries.

As the post creator would note, however, these “problems” can all be improved upon so hope isn’t lost just yet. Additionally, Blizzard’s proactive approach to fixing a variety of problems during the early access period is also a very promising sign that could indicate more welcome changes in the future.

While you wait for these improvements, though, we suggest checking out our guides on how to skip the campaign and how to summon a Golem in Diablo 4 so you can have a much easier time completing the content it has all over again.
