Each Diablo 4 class has its own set of strengths and weaknesses, but it seems that fans aren’t quite fond of what Blizzard has done with the Sorcerer class. Even though these spellcasters have several abilities that can give you plenty of crowd control, burst damage, and damage over time, the viability of each one gradually dwindles until you’re eventually forced into running a specific build just to clear endgame content.

Some people have even started calling it the weakest class in Diablo 4 due to its heavy reliance on a specific set of abilities, which include two defensive talents in Teleport and Ice Armor. Unfortunately, both of these talents are a necessity in all of the best Sorcerer builds since this class’s lackluster skill tree will often require you to run a glass cannon setup if you ever plan on reaching the level 100 milestone in the game.

With the underwhelming set of recent buffs frustrating players even further, a few users have now taken to Reddit to ask the Diablo 4 developers for a much needed Sorcerer rework. One Redditor named khrucible even created an extensive post detailing the “foundational problems” they’ve experienced with this class.

Based on the data the post creator provided, the lack of Armor nodes present in the Paragon board makes running two defensive skills a necessity and this class’s overreliance on Frost Nova’s vulnerability application limits players when it comes to crafting unique builds. It also doesn’t help that most of the Sorcerer’s other Core skills like Incinerate and Chain Lightning largely become feeble in the late game that you’re required to run Ice Shards as your main source of damage.

The thread’s author would then go on to list down even more class-specific weaknesses, which most of the commenters would end up agreeing with as one responder said “I’ve just hit 100 on my Arc Lash sorc and I’ve noticed much of the same, but even more is brought to light here.” “I don’t see how this is fixable beyond a rework. Otherwise, sorc will remain a conditionally ok class,” the same user continued.

The outpouring of support for the post creator’s sentiment means that many within the community feel the same way about the Sorcerer’s underwhelming build diversity and lackluster skill tree. Whether or not it’ll translate to a future rework, though, remains to be seen, but hopefully, the complaints being lodged by the players will at least put the developers on notice.
