Diablo 4 is peppered with a variety of threatening creatures that’ll ruin your trek through Sanctuary if you aren’t careful. However, no obstacle is arguably more frustrating than random road barriers that pop up on your travels, often stopping you in your tracks and forcing you to dismount in anger, after which you immediately start mashing keys to demolish these hindrances in a blind fit of rage.

Over on the Diablo 4 subreddit, several players have seemingly had enough of road barriers ahead of the Season 1 start date as evidenced by the popularity of LsFurDaze‘s post. In their message “to the dev that created the road barriers,” LsFurDaze said: “I’m curious what the value proposition was for putting the road blocks and bone walls in major traffic areas.” They then asked: “Was it to make players interact with the open world? When you play and run into one, did it accomplish what you were hoping for?”

They would then end their statement on an impactful note by quoting a lyric from Drake’s song entitled HYFR to further emphasize their point. And based on the hundreds of comments and thousands of upvotes that the thread has received so far, it seems the post creator’s relatable statements have resonated with a large portion of the community so far as coltRG mentioned: “It honestly wouldn’t even be that bad if getting on and off your horse and into combat was a super smooth transition with low mount cooldown. But it’s not and it’s a janky mess and annoying.”

Another commenter named Hiero_Glyph noted that “it was to force players off their mount. Then they considered that players will instantly get back on their mount so they added a cooldown period. [The developers] knew exactly what they were doing.” ManOnFire2004 then responded to the previous statement by saying: “Annoying the f*ck outta their audience? Cause if so, then they succeeded.”

Unfortunately, with road barriers being a small, yet important part of Sanctuary’s design, their removal may not be something that the brilliant development team are currently willing to entertain. But with numerous Diablo 4 fans complaining about the presence of these obstacles, this could at least convince Blizzard of lessening the amount of road barriers present within Sanctuary.
