The arrival of Diablo 4 sadly means that Diablo 3 will soon become the shiny new toy’s forgotten predecessor. However, a few loyal fans have made sure to acknowledge the fun times they’ve had with it by completing one last session within the third installment’s servers.

Even though Diablo 4 is seemingly a huge improvement over Diablo 3 due to the glowing reviews that have been released so far, it’s still hard not to feel sentimental when you’ve spent more than a few hundred hours playing a game. For this reason, some fans have gone on Reddit to say farewell to the divisive third entry by exchanging war stories.

One user named JynXten recently shared a post through the Diablo 4 subreddit in which they said that they “bought D3 on PS3 10 years ago and have played it all the way through PS4 and into PS5.” The post creator would then mention that they just had their last game wherein they “got one final Monk to level 70” after which they decided to bid a fond farewell to Diablo 3.

Of course, other users inevitably became nostalgic as well with one commenter saying that they “definitely got much more than my money’s worth out of D3 over the years.” Although its notorious auction house definitely made the game one of the more infamous creations in recent years, it seems that the fan base’s positive recollections outweigh the negative association this time around.

So now that the Diablo 4 release date is practically here, fans will predictably be moving over to the new installment in droves. However, it’s safe to say that the third installment won’t be forgotten any time soon as the fond memories people have spent playing through it will undoubtedly persist even after its servers have become obsolete.
