Diablo 4 producer Rod Fergusson recently revealed in an interview that the development team has already started work on the game’s next two expansions. Although a launch window is yet to be revealed for these upcoming pieces of DLC, it’s safe to say that there will be a new class introduced during this time, and it needs to be the Paladin.

Upon the reveal of the five Diablo 4 character classes, many were initially disappointed that the light-wielding class had been omitted from the opening lineup. Its absence from the game becomes even more apparent since there really aren’t any support-based characters that can turn your best Barbarian build into a behemoth that easily demolishes demons.

For this reason, some within the community have now turned to Reddit to ask Blizzard for the return of the valiant holy knight. One user named Chastiell even created and shared a post through the Diablo 4 subreddit saying that they hope “the next class will be a Paladin or Crusader.” Most of the players commenting under the thread showed their support for its reintroduction to D4, with one fan stating that they “feel like a huge void is missed here” with its current absence.

Others, however, are hoping for the return of another equally popular support class in the Monk. Since Monks aren’t equipped with heavy gear, they can often fly around the field with their spells and fists in tow. This also means they can support teammates and help out in fights much faster than a heavyset Paladin could, which is a play style that’s often more appealing to a large portion of the player base

Unfortunately, this is still merely speculation at the time of writing since Blizzard is yet to actually reveal any information on future expansions. Nevertheless, the next class will most likely be a support-heavy type in order to offset the tankiness and damage that the starters are currently offering so far.
