Blizzard has revealed the Diablo 3 Season 29 will be the last chapter that will add new content to the popular ARPG installment. The developers have also announced that subsequent seasons will only be including “a mix and match of previous cosmetics and features” that were introduced in the past.

Since Diablo 4 is set to be released soon, it only makes sense that the developers would focus all of their efforts on improving the current entry, especially with the open beta having been plagued with numerous bugs and long queues. They also apparently plan to focus on class balance and difficulty balance to make the gameplay experience as smooth as possible for each player.

Diablo senior vice president Rod Fergusson has also stated that the content set to be included with Diablo 3 Season 29 “won’t be as rich” as the previous chapter. Although a new season theme is planned on being introduced, the upcoming features are not going to be as exciting as they were from before. Diablo 4 game director Joe Shely also stated that some of the features within Diablo 3, such as the “overall scaling multipliers and damage numbers in combat,” will seemingly be reduced in the upcoming entry.

Unfortunately, this all indicates that Diablo 3 is on its way out after 11 brilliant years of constantly providing entertaining content to its loyal fan base. Though sad as it may be, 29 successive seasons of continuously refreshed content is a huge achievement that should be celebrated instead of mourned.

Luckily, there will still be a consistent stream of recycled features that’ll be arriving periodically within the game, which should still entertain both new and hardcore Diablo 3 players. But if you do want to experience something new eventually, then Diablo 4 will be there to with arms wide open once its release date comes around.
