Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Act 1 is coming to an end very soon, and Bungie has announced some imminent nerfs that have divided fans. In addition, the developer recently released D2 update 8.2.0.2. While Heresy Act 2 is something to look forward to very soon, in the meantime Destiny 2 fans have discovered an “annoying” secret buff that needs fixing.
Destiny 2 fans discover enemy buff that needs fixing
On the DestinyTheGame subreddit, OP FrostWendigo has shared “proof” that Bungie has secretly buffed the Taken Phalanx shields. After becoming “convinced that Taken Phalanxes are somehow more oppressive than they were last episode,” the OP rummaged through their clip archive and “found proof that yes, Taken Phalanxes have changed”.
The difference now is that “instead of holding their shield out to the side, only raising it to release their knockback blast, they now hold it in front of their bodies. Just like the new Dire Taken Phalanx”.
What makes this change so frustrating is that the Dire Taken Phalanx’s shield is much smaller. This means they don’t block as much, meanwhile, “the basic Taken Phalanx have their normal, full-size shield” which completely obscures their head as well as “most of their body” now raised from their front.
According to the OP, this buff is way too much. This because they “solo-flawlessed Starcrossed in Season of the Wish, but when I tried to run it earlier this week I could barely get past the first Phalanx, and there’s just no way my skills have fallen that far”.
It’s unknown whether this is a bug or an intended secret buff. The presumption is that it’s a bug, but, either way, it’s a change fans agree Bungie needs to fix.
A lot of the replies agree that the buff is annoying as “You basically have to shoot the edge of their right foot” due to “most other shots just get[ting] absorbed”. This means “Weapons like chill clip Tinasha’s are basically unusable against them now unless you’re above or behind”.
Another comment says “it’s heartbreaking throwing a slowva bomb as a Void Warlock and most of my damage comes up as ‘immune’ because it hits the shield – DESPITE the Unstoppable Phalax being stunned”.
Bungie hasn’t responded to this discovery on either BungieHelp or Destiny2Team socials as of writing. Hopefully they deliver a fix soon or at the very least provide a response online.
For more Destiny 2, players are getting unreleased weapons no one is supposed to get yet, and leaks have revealed an “80% damage buff” perk and weapon pre-order bonus presumably for Apollo.
