Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2 is closing in, and so far leaks have revealed a fun new mode, meanwhile, players have been getting unreleased weapons. While leaks have provided some insight as to what D2 fans can anticipate, Bungie has just announced some nerfs planned for Act 2. These new Destiny 2 nerfs have divided fans with some accusing Bungie of killing an “entire archetype”.
New Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Act 2 nerfs
On X, Bungie has announced the following nerfs for Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2 via Destiny2Team:
- Tuning Sword Logic Damage against players in PvP.
- We will be adding this perk to more weapons in the future and need it to be in line with our other damage perk options in the PvP sandbox. This will not affect PvE efficacy.
- Reducing the handling stat on Redrix’s Estoc.
- Walking back some of the buff that Lightweight Pulse Rifles received in Destiny 2 Update 8153.
- Note: These will still perform better than pre-buff. Just reducing the damage buff slightly to lower some of the forgiveness.
The buffs Lightweight Pulse Rifles received in update 8.1.5.3 are as follows:
- Increased body shot damage from 17 to 20.4
- Increased critical hit damage from 31.45 to 31.6
More details about the above nerfs will be provided in a future TWID as we get closer to Act 2’s launch on March 11th. As for why the above changes are planned, it’s because Bungie understand the Redrix’s Estoc Competitive Pulse Rifle “shipped a little hot in the Crucible”.
Reacting to the planned nerfs on Reddit, player opinion seems to be divided. One comment with over one hundred upvotes says, “I f****** HATE nerfing an entire archetype because of one gun. Seriously. The nutty AA and hip fire stickyness is all they needed to nerf on that weapon itself. Plus, they’re gonna drop sword logic damage”.
Another comment argues that “Instead of penalizing the Lightweights, the PR-55s could have been targeted”. Then there are comments such as, “Bro, Sword Logic did not need that nerf lol,” meanwhile, players have accused Bungie of ruining pulse rifles so hand cannons become the number one meta again.
While there are comments against some of the upcoming nerfs, there are players in favor of Bungie’s plans. One comment says, “Lightweights were already pretty good before the buff, and they will still be better than they were”. Another comment says, “The whole archetype’s forgiveness got overbuffed [and] If they just nerfed Redrix, players would just flock back to any of those other pulses and nothing would actually change”.
For more Destiny 2, players are getting unreleased weapons no one is supposed to get yet, and leaks have revealed an “80% damage buff” perk and weapon pre-order bonus presumably for Apollo.
