It has been a divisive 2024 for the Destiny 2 community. Not everyone is in love with the current state of the game, and it does feel as though the year is ending on a bit whimper with problems for the dawning event. However, regardless of feelings about how the year has panned out, it’s time to look forward to the future. Not everything is confirmed right now, but Bungie has provided an outline of a Destiny 2 roadmap for 2025 starting with the early months of the new year to the beginning of Year 11.
There is plenty else to look forward to besides just D2 next year. We are all anticipating the release of Destiny Rising, and it does seem probable that the free-to-play spin-off will come out sometime in the next 12-months. Away from the Destiny series, Bungie is also continuing to work on Marathon. While we don’t know when Marathon will fully come out, there will be playtests next year, meaning fans will be able to play the game even for a limited-time.
Both Rising and Marathon are exciting prospects, but there is also plenty to anticipate for Destiny 2 as outlined in the 2025 roadmap so far.
Destiny 2 2025 roadmap
The Destiny 2 2025 roadmap so far is as follows:
- Revenant Act III release – January 7th
- Balance update – January 14th
- Iron Banner return – January 14th
- Adept Prophet: Trials of Osiris – January 31st
- New Dungeon – February 7th
All of the above for the early new year come courtesy of Bungie’s latest This Week in Destiny blog post. As for the balance update scheduled for January 14th, there are a host of big buffs and nerfs confirmed for the impending patch.
As for the remainder of the year and into 2026, below is the roadmap for Year 11:
Summer 2025:
- Expansion – Codename: Apollo
- Major update – Codename: Arsenal
- Rewards Pass
Fall 2025:
- Major update – Codename: Surge
- Rewards Pass
Winter 2025:
- Expansion – Codename: Behemoth
- Major update
- Rewards pass
Spring 2026:
