Destiny 2 Episode Heresy has been a lot of fun so far, and it will continue with Acts 2 and 3 in March and April. Leaks have revealed new cutscenes and presumably a boss rush mode for Act 2, meanwhile, other leaks have revealed a new weapon and “80% damage buff” perk as a pre-order bonus presumably for Apollo. However, in regard to new weapons specifically for Heresy, Destiny 2 players are reportedly getting “unreleased” weapons and guns no one is “supposed to get yet”.
Destiny 2 players report getting “unreleased” weapons
Destiny 2 players have reported receiving new and “unreleased” weapons during Heresy Act 1. This comes courtesy of Reddit user, Hedgyyy, who has received “Void 660 charge time fusion: Afterlight”. The user claims “It showed up in the last slot of my vault on DIM as ???”.
This issue was first reported by BungieLeaks on February 4th, but it appears to still not be fixed after the release of update 8.2.0.1. The unreleased weapons people are receiving are the Afterlife as well as a combat bow called Anamnesis.
As for how it’s happening, it’s specific to Tome of Want. This is a new Tome that was announced for Episode Heresy, and it gives players “options to focus on earning specific weapons, armor, or currencies in addition to general loot drops”.
The top reply on the Reddit post says, “Tome of Want is giving out a bunch of guns you’re not supposed to get yet if you only slot the first box”. Another user elaborated players need to “ignore the middle slot [and] still need to put in the essence of desire to set the ritual going and receive weapon”.
Even though the weapons are unreleased and supposed to not be used yet, the OP added in the comments that it “works normal,” meaning it is not restricted.
Again, the unintentional release of these weapons has been reported since Heresy Act 1’s launch, and it’s still happening after the launch of update 8.2.0.1, so it appears to be something Bungie are not fixing.
