Bungie is hard at work on the next era of Destiny 2, making the game less “complex” for players. As the beloved MMO makes changes to sideline modes and clean up the UI, the game will not be bringing back some beloved modes.

Destiny 2 Sparrow Racing isn’t coming back

Following claims that Destiny 2 is bringing back Sparrow Racing, Bungie community lead Dylan Gafner (dmg04) confirmed the mode is dead and buried.

“Gonna nip this one now – SRL ain’t coming back in Revenant,” the community lead said. “Feel free to keep speculating on which fan favorite activity will be making a return, though.”

Released in 2015 for the original Destiny, Sparrow Racing was a limited time mode allowing players to race their vehicles for “loot and glory”.

While the mode came back in 2016, Bungie has abandoned the beloved event. However, fans are still clamouring for its return.

Keep asking for it

While the Destiny 2 community lead confirmed that Sparrow Racing will not be coming back, they also told fans to keep requesting for modes they want to see again.

“Please feel free to keep yelling at me about how much you want it back. Happy to pass the feedback along,” the community lead told fans.

Over the past ten years of Destiny, Bungie has removed a few game modes from play, as well as vaulting paid campaign content away from customers.

Nevertheless, the MMO keeps on churning with a new mobile game, dubbed Destiny Rising, allegedly on the way. Not many details are known about the mobile title, but it’s said to have been in the works for years.

At the same time, Bungie is also working on its next game, Marathon. Following the massive failure of PlayStation’s Concord, the game is reportedly still planned to be a paid release on PC and console.
