Bungie is celebrating ten years of Destiny. The very first game came out all the way back on September 9th, 2014, and there has been a lot of highs, and many lows, for the series since its debut. In honor of the series’ 10th anniversary, Bungie has given all Destiny 2 players new armor sets along with the chance to unlock a new Legend title to get an early access bonus.
It’s been a mixed year for Bungie so far. Fans all agree that The Final Shape was excellent, but player numbers have plummeted to the lowest ever. However, despite the declining player count, Bungie are committed to the future of Destiny. Not only is there a lot of new content planned for D2, but Bungie is also working on an MMO spin-off called Destiny Rising.
While this MMO spin-off is an exciting prospect for the future, right now players can enter Destiny 2 to get some unique new armor, as well as work towards unlocking a new Legend title.
Bungie releases new Destiny 2 armor and Legend title
To celebrate ten years of Destiny, Bungie has released new armor sets for each of the classes in D2. Per the developer’s 10 year anniversary blog post, each set of armor for every class is “inspired by the original concept armor that was shown a long, long time ago; in fact, it’s one of the first Destiny armor sets ever seen publicly”.
The armor sets are available for each class starting today, and Bungie says they can found while “exploring the surroundings of the Tower in the Pale Heart”.
In addition to new nostalgic armor sets, Bungie has added a new Legend title and seal for players to unlock. Per Bungie, you need to complete a collection of tasks and challenges while beating The Final Shape campaign on Legend difficulty.
You will want to unlock the Legend title before Episode Echoes ends on October 8th. If you earn the Legend title before the full conclusion to Episode Echoes, you will be “offered an early access opportunity to purchase the Ace of Spades replica before its official launch in October. This offer includes a special Ace of Spades NERF in-game ornament, that will also be available… when Episode: Revenant launches”.
If you already completed The Final Shape campaign on Legend difficulty, you will automatically unlock the new Legend title. Lastly, while Bungie has added new armor and title to celebrate ten years of Destiny, more content is coming in the future. The developer has teased the return of a “certain Exotic Sniper rifle, once considered a myth by many”. This is returning in the upcoming Dungeon.
