The Final Shape represents the culmination of the Light and Darkness saga in Destiny 2. After nearly a decade, you will be able to confront The Witness to complete the years-long journey. But before you can do that, there are campaign missions that you will have to complete. 

How many missions are there?

There are eight missions in the main story of Destiny 2: The Final Shape. You won’t be surprised to hear that, because that’s the same number as in some of the previous expansions, like Lightfall, The Witch Queen, and Beyond Light. 

However, there is a caveat. Only seven missions are available at the start of the expansion. The final, eighth mission will become available to everyone once one Fireteam manages to clear the latest Raid, Salvation’s Edge. Until that happens, the mission’s name and objective are a secret to everyone.

List of missions in The Final Shape campaign

As mentioned, there are eight main missions in The Final Shape campaign:

• Mission 1 – Transmigration
• Mission 2 – Temptation
• Mission 3 – Exegesis
• Mission 4 – Requiem
• Mission 5 – Ascent
• Mission 6 – Dissent
• Mission 7 – Iconoclasm
• Mission 8 – Excision

Of course, you shouldn’t expect these to be the only activities you can take in the latest expansion. Besides the story missions above, there will be new daily quests, challenges, and side missions to discover. As always, you can leverage them to get loot and increase your character’s power to be able to complete the main story missions and eventually head into the Raid itself.

How long to beat The Final Shape campaign

Using the campaigns from previous expansions as a guide, we can expect that it would take around 6-8 hours to complete all missions solo with a well-geared character. This doesn’t take the Salvation’s Edge Raid into account, however. If you play in a Fireteam the difficulty increases, but a well-equipped and coordinated team can still beat all of the missions faster. Playing with friends working together can cut down the time by another 1-2 hours.
