Former Dead Space executive producer & co-creator Glen Schofield has seemingly given his blessing to EA Motive’s just-announced upcoming remake.

In a tweet following the announcement, the former Visceral Studios head said: “Directing the original Dead Space was one of the highlights of my career. Excited to see what the EA (Motive) team does with it!” In a lovely show of gratitude, the EA Motive account responded  “You paved the way for us, Glen. Looking forward to the Callisto Protocol as well.”

The Dead Space remake will see the 2008 horror rebuilt “from the ground up” in EA’s Frostbite engine. An improved story, characters and gameplay” are on the cards, and it’s set to release in 2022 exclusively for the newer consoles Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 as well as the PC.

Schofield meanwhile is heading up The Callisto Protocol, a similarly sci-fi horror themed game at Striking Distance Studios.  That game will also launch on PC and consoles in 2022.
