Observer, styled as >observer_ and the latest game from the team that brought you Layers of Fear, is a sci-fi neo-noir cyberpunk kind of affair, so the news that Rutger Hauer will be playing the lead is quite fitting. Hauer has starred in many films but is probably most famous for his turn in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie playing Roy Batty in Blade Runner, and delivering the iconic ‘tears in rain’ line.
Hauer’s character is Daniel Lazarski, a ‘neural detective’ (which means he can look for clues in people’s minds) known as an Observer. As Lazarski hacks into the minds of criminals and victims he must relive their worst fears. Unsurprisingly from the developer of Layers of Fear, this is a horror game.
Alongside the big Hauer reveal, we now have a release date for Observer of August 15. It’ll be available on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
