To create the best gameplay experience, Call of Duty is no stranger to taking ideas from other games and adapting them to work in the latest annual release. So far, the Black Ops 6 cycle has already seen the return of the Saug submachine gun from Black Ops 4 in a bid to spice up the existing meta.
As part of the Season 2 update for Treyarch’s most recent entry into the Black Ops series, the developer has stolen a perk from 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 with the aim of giving players even more choice when it comes to building a loadout.
Faster movement coming to Black Ops 6
The perk in question is Slipstream, a perk that provides players with an increased base spring speed replacing Tac Sprint. Available to be placed in Perk Slot Two as soon as Season 2 releases, the new perk brings back a brilliant addition from Modern Warfare 3.
Slipstream takes heavy inspiration from the All-Terrain Boots which were available in Modern Warfare 3. Also providing players with an increase in sprint speed at the cost of Tac Sprint, the boots granted players a 12.5% increase in sprint speed making it much easier to navigate the map.
Alongside faster sprint speed, the boots also offered quicker aim walking speed, which resulted in significant improvements when attempting to strafe a nearby opponent in the heat of battle. The boots arrived at MW3 in May towards the end of the cycle, meaning they struggled to have a lasting impact on the meta.
Can Slipstream change the Black Ops 6 meta?
Slipstream’s arrival in Season 2 gives it plenty of time to influence the ever-changing Black Ops 6 meta. Whether it’s from the perspective of casual or competitive players, the extra sprint speed is bound to entice players into changing their existing builds for even quicker ways to navigate the virtual battlefield.
With players always on the lookout for ways to gain an advantage, the addition of Slipstream is certainly an interesting one. We’ll have to wait and see if the perk can usurp the likes of Double Time as the most popular choices in the second slot.
