The ever-expanding weapon arsenal in Call of Duty often results in some weapons standing out from the crowd thanks to their superior performance across your favourite maps and game modes. Since the launch of Black Ops 6, the likes of the Krig C assault rifle and Jackal PDW submachine gun have dominated the meta.

The Season 1 Reloaded introduces even more weaponry into the mix giving players even more choice when it comes to building the very best loadouts. Instead of making numerous buffs and nerfs as part of the mid-season update, Treyarch has opted to hold off and fans aren’t bothered about waiting a little longer for the balancing to arrive.

No Black Ops 6 Season 1 Reloaded buffs and nerfs

Instead of the developer applying a wealth of changes to restore some kind of balance, Treyarch has decided to launch its next weapon balance pass at a later date. On December 4, 2024, it shared just some of the changes on their way.

The lack of headshot damage has been hugely frustrating for many players attempting to get their hands on the coveted Mastery Camos. With most weapons requiring 100 headshots to complete the Military Camo challenges, several fans have switched over to Hardcore thanks to the reduced health making it much easier to progress through the challenges.

In addition to headshot damage buffs, Treyarch also plans to reduce the amount of visual recoil generated by the weapon arsenal in addition to the complete removal of idle sway shortly after aiming down the scope of a sniper rifle. Great news if your accuracy is impacted by the unnecessary movements.

A positive step forward

Instead of attempting to cram everything into one update, it’s great to see Treyarch taking its time to ensure the changes are going to make noticeable differences in the gameplay experience. It’s also a huge positive to see the developer taking player concerns on board and actively applying changes fans want to see instead of adjusting other areas that may not need any changes.

For some, a delay of weapon balancing means a few more weeks of Jackal and Krig dominance but in the long run, a short wait for more thorough changes is going to leave Black Ops 6 in a much better position ahead of its second post-launch season.
