A wide selection of game modes in a Call of Duty game ensures players have plenty of choice before loading into the action. From Team Deathmatch to Gunfight, modes focus on those who prefer a more competitive setting and those wanting a casual environment to earn camouflages and complete challenges, but not every iconic mode is available in Black Ops 6.

While hackers continue to infest Ranked Play with banned weapons, attention is already turning to the next wave of game modes arriving to Black Ops 6 multiplayer. Seasonal updates often include fresh game modes in a bid to spice up the existing selection. A leak claims a game mode that hasn’t featured in Call of Duty for over a decade is set to return.

Forgotten Black Ops game mode to return

According to notable Call of Duty leaker ‘SemtexLeaks,’ the Sharpshooter mode from the first and second Black Ops games is returning in the not-too-distant future much to the delight of those wanting more Party Modes in Black Ops 6. If you’re unfamiliar with the mode, Sharpshooter is a real test of mastering the entire weapon arsenal.

Players begin the match with a randomly generated weapon and must score as many eliminations with that weapon in 45 seconds. After 45 seconds, the weapon will swap to another randomly chosen gun until the countdown clock strikes zero. To win, simply score the most kills over the time limit. Previous iterations of the mode saw players who went on a streak rewarded with additional Perks but it’s unclear if Treyarch plans on spicing up the formula for Black Ops 6.

Sharpshooter was one of the more popular Party Modes from the earlier Black Ops games and its potential return has already sparked plenty of excitement among players. “Sharpshooter on Nuketown about to bring back so many memories,” says one fan. For fans of other modes, there’s good news too. SemtexLeaks also reports Gun Game is also within the game files but the developers haven’t been adding anything to it yet.

A bigger focus on fun?

The game modes with unusual rules and less of a focus on winning always become the more popular options in a Call of Duty game. The arrival of Sharpshooter in Black Ops 6 is an exciting one for those wanting something that isn’t as competitive as a sweaty Hardpoint match.

As with all leaks, you should take them with a pinch of salt until Treyarch is ready to share more information on what it has in store. For the time being, Sharpshooter’s alleged arrival is bound to prove a hit for those wanting to showcase their skills with SMGs, snipers, shotguns, and more.
