We are getting closer to the arrival of Call of Duty Black Ops 6. This year’s installment of CoD is set to drop just before Halloween, and to say fans are excited would be an understatement. While the campaign looks terrific, the pull every year is multiplayer. Treyarch has just announced some big changes to online for launch, but there’s another potential “huge issue” that has Black Ops 6 fans worried.
The release date for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is October 25th. Unlike previous years, there is no pre-order bonus providing early access to the campaign, so fans will all enter the battlefield at the same time. This is the first CoD to launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, and it will integrate with Warzone when BO6 Season 1 starts, presumably in December.
We did get to play BO6 for the first time earlier this month through multiplayer betas. These were a lot of fun, but there is a concern amongst the community about emotes happening in third-person.
Black Ops 6 fans concerned about third-person emotes
On the Black Ops 6 subreddit, OP coone90 shared a post titled “This is gonna be a huge issue. Emotes should be in first person”. The post is accompanied by a gameplay clip of YouTuber, ImMarksman, playing the BO6 beta earlier this month.
In the clip, ImMarksman hides behind a wall and activates the You’re Going Down emote. This changes the perspective from first-person to third-person, and allows the YouTuber to see where the opposition is on the other side of the wall. The clip was a way of the YouTuber intentionally demonstrating the unfairness and potential ramifications with third-person emotes.
You can check out the clip in the embedded Reddit post below:
Reacting to the footage, many comments simply echo the sentiment, “wtf were they thinking making them 3rd person”. Another user chimed in, “I thought it was going to be 1st person. Did they learn nothing from BO4?”.
There are comments acknowledging that the emotes are most likely third-person because it will allow players to see their character and the skins that they have bought when the game releases. With this in mind, one comment suggests “they [Treyarch] should do what Apex does, don’t render other players at all if they’re not visible to the player character”.
Treyarch has published some huge changes made to Black Ops 6 multiplayer for launch. In regard to emotes, all that has been listed so far is the following improvements:
- To reduce Emote spam, players in the Winner’s Circle will now only be able to activate 1 Emote.
- Simplified the Emote menu to make it easier to activate Emotes in the Winner’s Circle and in-game.
Hopefully a fix is issued for this potential issue as it’s understandable wanting to see skins in third-person, but, as demonstrated in the footage, there are ways to abuse third-person emotes to get an advantage.
