A double XP weekend is the perfect opportunity for Black Ops 6 players to rank up the weapon arsenal and their own level so they can reach the next Prestige as fast as possible. Whether you want to earn the title of Prestige Master quickly or unlock all of the attachments for the Saug, the limited-time events are hugely popular among players loading into the action.
With Season 1 already moving towards the halfway point, another double XP event began on November 27 to celebrate Thanksgiving. Despite many thankful for the opportunity to earn huge amounts of XP in little time, many believe the event is a scam after not receiving the expected amount after topping the scoreboards.
Is Black Ops 6 double XP a scam?
Just hours after the event began, players took to social media to express their frustrations about the lack of XP being earned while the boost is active. In a bid to reduce its effectiveness, fans believe Treyarch has reduced the standard amount of XP being distributed has been reduced resulting in a slower ranking process.
“This year’s double XP is a scam,” claims one frustrated fan. They’re not the only ones who believe Treyarch has decided to modify the earn rate to prevent players from working through the ranks with ease. In a bid to prove something isn’t quite right in Black Ops 6, one fan uploaded a video earning 21,000 XP despite scoring over 12,000 points during a match.
Instead of paying out double the amount of XP earned in a match, it appears the boost is only giving players a boost of 1.3x which is nowhere near double. The lack of boost is far from ideal, especially if you plan on reaching the next Prestige in record time.
This isn’t the first occasion where the XP earn rates in Black Ops 6 have been called into question. On November 2, Treyarch addressed an issue where a bug was limiting the amount of XP awarded to players while the double XP event was active. The developer fixed the problem alongside extending the event for a few extra days as a token gesture.
Why is double XP broken?
The exact cause of the inconsistent double XP rewards remains a mystery. Despite the developers addressing the problem, a new event always creates new ways to frustrate players wanting to increase their levels. With several players reporting something is wrong, it’s clear there is an issue.
Treyarch often acknowledges player feedback quickly so there’s a high chance Treyarch is already hard at work on a fix so Black Ops 6 double XP will finally reward the right amounts. The lower multiplier still provides a slight increase in XP, but it’s far from the doubling that’s promised by the name of the event. We’ll have to wait and see if the developer chooses to extend the event to compensate for the millions of XP being lost.
