Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is here as Activision has given players a chance to check the game out over the next two weekends ahead of its official launch on October 25th. The series is often the subject of criticism, with many feeling like the series has hit a plateau, especially the recent Modern Warfare 3 that felt like a step backwards from the previous entry. But it looks like that perception may be changing as Black Ops 6 has been a hit so far.
U/Bilingual_Throwaway01 took to the Black Ops 6 sub-Reddit to praise the current beta, calling it the “best Call of Duty game since Black Ops 3.”
They started off by saying they thought that “this is the best feeling COD I’ve played since BO3,” before going on to praise the game by stating that “It’s like what Cold War could’ve been if it had more development time and commited more to the Black Ops aesthetic.”
When discussing the mechanics of Black Ops 6, they praised it by saying that the “Guns all feel nice and punchy, ttk is not too fast and not too slow, little details like classic prestige, persistent lobbies, great music, winner’s circle, etc,” concluding that “For a beta I think it’s looking promising.”
It is great to see the response be so positive, especially as Treyarch has been working on the game for four years, which could signal that game development has gotten too advanced for yearly releases to still maintain the quality expected by the player base. If you haven’t checked out the Black Ops 6 beta yet, it will be available in closed beta between August 30th and September 4th for those that have pre-ordered or use Xbox Game Pass.
