Ubisoft has pulled the wraps off Assassin's Creed Odyssey, confirming the game will indeed take place in Ancient Greece. Pity it leaked numerous time before hand though, innit? Took the wind out of their sails a bit, we imagine.

Odyssey has been in development for the past three years, and continues the series' inexorable transition into an epic role-playing game. There's two characters to pick from: Kassandra or Alexios, who share the bloodline of a mysterious Spartan warrior.

Storytelling has also been given an overhaul; and yes, that does mean optional dialogue choices. One example we saw was Sokrates chatting with Kassandra, with players given the chance of telling the truth or a massive porkie pie.

Ubisoft also released a lengthy gameplay video, showcasing the game's combat in action. It seems Mercenaries are Odyssey's answer to Phylakes, and you'll once again loot bodies for fresh gear to increase your prowess in battle.

Speaking of battles, it looks like Odyssey will feature some massive rucks, with Kassandra getting stuck into a huge scrap boasting dozens of enemies on screen at once.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 5. But then again, you knew that already.

Tuck into two trailers below.
